2015 Precourse Self-Assessment
For individuals registered in Advanced Life Support courses (ACLS & PALS):
Before the course, please read the appropriate 2015 ACLS or PALS Provider Manual, complete the mandatory Precourse Self-Assessment, identify any gaps in your knowledge, and remediate those gaps by studying the applicable content in the Provider Manual or other supplementary resources, including those on the Student Website.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation requires all ACLS and PALS students to have a current Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS provider card as a prerequisite to the ACLS and PALS courses. In addition to the BLS prerequisites, you must pass the high-quality BLS Testing Station to complete the course
Plan ample time for precourse study and complete the appropriate Precourse Self-Assessment. The Precourse Self- Assessment evaluates your knowledge in three sections: rhythm recognition, pharmacology, and practical application. A passing score for the self-assessment is 70%, and you may take it an unlimited number of times to achieve a passing score. You will need to bring your Precourse Self-Assessment certificate with you to class.
