Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C Provider

The Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C course contains up-to-date content and science from the 2010 Guidelines for First Aid, CPR and ECC. In this course, you will learn the essential skills of patient care to protect and support the life of a suddenly ill or injured person until emergency medical services arrive. Instruction will cover first aid skills such as those that help in the control of bleeding, shock management, stabilizing fractures and dislocations. It is also open to the general public.

Standard First Aid BLS For Healthcare Provider

The Standard First Aid BLS for Healthcare Provider (C) course encompasses the full content of the Standard First Aid course and the additional course content of the HSF Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider (C) program. The addition of the BLS for Healthcare Provider (C) class is designed to teach a variety of health-care professionals how to recognize a number of life-threatening emergencies, how to provide CPR, how to use an AED and how to relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

First Aid Instructor Courses

First Aid Instructor

The First Aid Instructor Course is a two-day program comprised of two modules: the Core Training Program (Core); and the specific First Aid module. The Core Program covers general information pertaining to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the adult education principles utilized within HSF courses. The Instructor-Candidate will be introduced to HSF policies, procedures and administration requirements for delivering an HSF course, including use of the Resuscitation portal as part of pre- and post-course preparation. The specific First Aid module introduces the student to the educational materials and syllabus utilized in the delivery of the HSF Standard First Aid provider and renewal courses

Prerequisites

All First Aid Instructor-Candidates must have a current Heart and Stroke Foundation Standard First Aid provider card.

 

First Aid Instructor Renewal 

To maintain registration with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, a First Aid Instructor Renewal course is required every three years. Completion ensures that the First Aid Instructor receives current curriculum and guidelines, and is re-evaluated in their skills. The First Aid Instructor Renewal course builds upon the educational learning gained within the original instructor course.

First Aid Instructor Guideline Update
 
The Guideline Update is a course that all active, registered HSF instructors and Instructor-Candidates (BLS, First Aid, ACLS, and PALS) are required to attend when the Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care change (approximately every 5 years). The course introduces instructors to changes to the guidelines and the rationale for those changes, the revised educational delivery techniques and materials, and the syllabus utilized in courses offered by HSF.

First Aid Instructor Trainer

The First Aid Instructor Trainer course is designed to enable existing HSF Instructors to teach HSF instructor level courses. Instructor trainers are integral in maintaining the high teaching standards set by the Heart and Stroke Foundation
